Kauko started practicing yoga and martial arts as a teenager. After achieving a black belt in Shorinji Kempo; Shaolin Si Quan Fa in chinese, he traveled to Japan to study martial arts in 1977. Since then, he lived in Japan for about 7 years, studying and working at Kato Sensei's seitai shiatsu clinic.
Shaolin Temple is a well known ancient Buddhist temple in Henan, China. The main pillars of Shaolin culture are Chan Buddhism; Zen in japanese, martial arts and traditional Chinese medicine. Kauko started learning meditation, versatile physical exercises and oriental healing methods of this school 1974.
Kauko started Qigong related training in mid seventies and met his most important Qigong teacher Tsumura Sensei in 1986, with whom he started studying further Daoist methods, philosophy and internal energy work and alchemy to cultivate the three treasures.
Kauko Uusoksa founded the Finnish Qigong association in 1988 and has continued to teach and study intensively. He has also been involved in organizing and creating Jianshen Qigong in China. Jiansheng Qigong, or Health Qigong, comprises old traditional exercises that have been rearranged into standardized forms. He was a member in the founding of the International Jian Shen Qigong Federation .
Currently, Kauko Uusoksa is actively studying and teaching traditional and modern Qigong from moving Daoyin forms to Neidan - Inner Elixir alchemy. He lives by the lake in the countryside 15km from nearest village without municipal electricity and water service. He says it ́s a perfect place to practice looking through the curtains.
